Ecole Autonome de Butare Graduation Ceremony – June 28

On June 28th, the students of Ecole Autonome de Butare joyfully gathered for their annual graduation celebration, held at the University of Rwanda’s Huye campus auditorium. The event brought together students, parents, teachers, and distinguished guests to honor another successful academic year and to celebrate the achievements of our graduates.

The ceremony was hosted by Teacher Jean Baptiste, who served as the energetic and engaging Master of Ceremonies. Head Teacher Benoît opened the event with a warm welcome and outlined the day’s program. He also introduced special guests, including members of the Board of Directors and community leaders.

The celebration began with a grand entrance by the students, who marched into the auditorium with pride and spirit, setting the tone for a vibrant and joyful program. Upper primary students from grades 3, 4, and 5 opened the festivities with a traditional Rwandan dance, moving in perfect rhythm to the beat of the drums and showcasing their deep connection to Rwandan culture.

Each class took turns performing on stage. Nursery students presented short dialogues in French, confidently practicing their language skills before an attentive audience. Primary Two students sang a gentle rendition of Silent Night in English, filling the auditorium with peace and harmony. Primary Four students delighted the crowd with a theatrical play featuring three mysterious visitors from Japan, bringing laughter and curiosity. Primary Five students followed with a powerful military-style marching routine, demonstrating discipline, teamwork, and coordination.

In a touching moment, Father Jeremiah offered remarks of congratulations on behalf of Father Prior Jean Pierre, who could not attend. He expressed his pride in the students' accomplishments and reminded all present of the importance of humility, service, and love.

Adding sparkle to the event, students from Primary One and Two showcased their creativity and flair in a fashion show. Dressed in vibrant dresses and stylish shirts, they danced across the stage with confidence and joy, bringing smiles and applause from the crowd.

The Head of the Parents’ Committee addressed the audience with heartfelt words, praising the students, teachers, and school leadership for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. The local Huye representative from the Ministry of Education was also in attendance, offering a stirring speech of pride and support for the mission of Ecole Autonome de Butare.

Academic excellence and good conduct were recognized with awards for top-performing students in both the primary and secondary levels. Certificates and prizes were handed out to enthusiastic applause, reinforcing the school’s strong commitment to discipline and learning.

The evening concluded with the formal graduation of Nursery Two and Primary Six students. The Primary Six graduates donned blue gowns and tasseled caps, receiving their diplomas with cheers, balloons, and a wave of streamers. The Nursery Two students sparkled in their black gowns, colorful sunglasses, and bright ribbons, bringing energy and joy to the grand finale.

It was a day full of celebration, culture, pride, and hope—marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another for the students of Ecole Autonome de Butare.
